ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a meeting at its headquarters in Islamabad on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances.

Speakers at the meeting, which was presided over by Sheikh Abdul Mateen, general secretary of the APHC-AJK, expressed their profound concerns over enforced disappearances in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) by Indian law enforcement agencies.

The speakers highlighted that while the global community observes this day, numerous Kashmiri families are still waiting for the safe return of loved ones who have vanished while under the custody of Indian troops over the past 33 years in the area, read the press release.

Enforced Disappearances Won’t Suppress Kashmiri Struggle

The speakers emphasized that Indian forces have long been closely involved in disappearances of Kashmiris, with many of the victims last being seen in the custody of the occupation forces. They pleaded with India to immediately inform the families of the missing persons.

In response to the prevailing circumstance, the speakers highlighted that India’s use of harsh measures, such as extrajudicial killings and maltreatment of women, cannot put an end to the Kashmiri people’s legitimate resistance.

They reaffirmed Kashmiris’ steadfast will to pursue their cause for freedom all the way to its successful conclusion. The Hurriyat movement’s leaders emphasized that Kashmiris’ sacrifices have propelled the Kashmir dispute onto the global stage.

The leaders of the APHC-AJK requested that the UN and international human rights organizations take notice of India’s attempts to change the demographics of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as well as the serious human rights abuses committed by Indian troops in the occupied territory, including their targeting of Kashmiri youth.

Among those who attended the conference were include, Nisar Mirza, Advocate Parvez Ahmed, Muhammad Ashraf Dar, Zahid Ashraf, Ejaz Rahmani, Raja Khadim Hussain, Imtiaz Wani, Haji Sultan Butt, Syed Mushtaq, Abdul Majeed, Gulshan Ahmed, Adeel Mushtaq Wani, and others.
