JARANWALLA: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar, has unequivocally labeled the assailants behind the recent attacks on minority houses and places of worship in the Jarnawala area of Punjab as ‘enemies of humanity’.
Addressing a gathering of Christian community members in Jarnawala, where 17 churches and 84 minority community houses were set ablaze amid alleged blasphemy allegations, Prime Minister Kakar reasserted Pakistan’s resolve to safeguard the lives and assets of all minority communities within the country.
Premier Kakar emphasized that upholding the values of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) and the nation’s Founder, coupled with constitutional obligations, mandated a robust response to heinous attacks against minorities.
The Caretaker Prime Minister asserted that condoning the persecution of minorities would be out of the question, stressing that the law of the land would be swift in addressing any harm inflicted upon them. Kakar asserted that the entire society and government would stand united against such dark forces and provide meaningful support to the victimized communities.
Promising action against those involved in the incidents, the Premier said that actions will speak louder than words.
Kakar articulated that minority rights protection extended beyond any compulsion, embodying the government’s unwavering conviction. He addressed the fact that the recent incident underlines a broader societal issue of extremism and radicalism that transcends religion, sect, or group affiliation.
Reiterating the vision of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam, Kakar emphasized Muslims’ responsibility to safeguard minorities’ honor, life, and property. He asserted that societies thrive under the rule of law and stability is fostered through a shared sense of justice.
Pakistan’s PM Lauds Support for Minorities
The premier also appreciated the visit of the next Chief Justice of Pakistan to the affected Christian Colony, and military leadership for their support, with a reaffirmation that no compromise would be made on minority rights.
Highlighting the Christian community’s contributions to society, Kakar said he received early education from a Christian school under Christian teachers.
The prime minister conveyed a stern warning against any malevolent intent towards minorities, asserting the government’s resolve to shield them from harm.
During his visit, Kakar handed out compensation checks to affected families and affirmed that Pakistan would stand as a bulwark against any targeting of minorities based on religious differences.
Prime Minister Kakar’s was accompanied by the Punjab Governor Baligh-ur-Rehman, Caretaker Chief Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, and caretaker federal ministers.
