KABUL: The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment recently announced the participation of a group of 50 Afghan businessmen in the esteemed 7th South Asia-China Import and Export Exhibition.
The delegation, led by representatives from the chamber, exhibited a diverse array of Afghan products and services within the exhibition’s dedicated section.
Khan Mohammad Sarfraz, a distinguished figure within the Chamber of Commerce and Investment, highlighted the significance of this engagement. He explained, approximately 50 Afghan entrepreneurs have set up booths to proudly present Afghan products and services within the exhibition. Moreover, a delegation from the Chamber of Commerce and Investment actively participated in the conference and exhibition.
The event’s inauguration witnessed the participation of Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the accomplished political deputy PM. In his address, he underscored the role of such exhibitions in fostering regional unity and collaboration. The organization of these exhibitions is a stepping stone toward closer ties between countries in the region. These platforms amplify trade opportunities, aligning with governments’ responsibilities of advancing their respective economies, emphasized Mawlawi Abdul Kabir.
During his virtual speech at the exhibition’s commencement, the political deputy PM also placed significant emphasis on creating a favourable environment for foreign investors within Afghanistan. He conveyed his commitment to ensuring the facilitation of investments, further highlighting the nation’s openness to business and economic cooperation.
Mawlawi Abdul Kabir reflected on the robust economic and trade relations between Afghanistan and China, emphasizing the ongoing efforts of both nations to nurture and expand these ties. He shared a notable example of their collaboration, stating, Afghanistan and China have maintained a strong level of economic and trade relations. Notably, two years ago, on August 15, during a period of political transition in Afghanistan, China stood as one of our initial trading partners for exporting pine nuts.
China’s enduring commitment to Afghanistan was exemplified by its decision to maintain an active embassy in Kabul, even following the change in leadership to the Islamic Emirate. This steadfastness was further solidified by the signing of vital commercial agreements between China and the incumbent government. One such agreement pertains to oil extraction in the resource-rich Amu Darya area, reflecting the multifaceted nature of their cooperation.
