LONDON: The archbishop of Canterbury expressing concern over the condition of Palestinian patients and hospitals in Gaza has warned of the grave danger, Western media reported on Sunday.
Justin Welby, the most senior priest in the Church of England, expressed his views in a post on social media platform, X, after the Ahli Hospital, which is run by Anglicans, was struck by the Israeli rocket.
He said hospitals and patients in Gaza are in grave danger adding the critically ill and injured patients at the Anglican-run Ahli Hospital and other healthcare centers in northern Gaza cannot be evacuated safely.
Welby warned that hospitals in Gaza are running low on medical supplies and they are facing catastrophic situation. The Ahli Hospital was struck by Israeli rocket fire last night, injuring four staff members.
Israel asked to take back evacuation order
He appealed Israeli authorities to take back the the evacuation order on hospitals in northern Gaza and for health facilities, health workers, patients and civilians.
He noted the civilians of Gaza cannot be held responsible for actions of others.
Welby in the statement called on the world to pray for all innocent people who are caught up in the terrible violence in the sacred land.

In the past eight days Israel has launched a devastating bombing campaign in Gaza, resulting in the killing of more than 2,300 innocent Palestinian civilians. Israel has cautioned 1.1 million Palestinians to evacuate northern Gaza, indicating a ground offensive.
