Kosovo Serbs boycotted Sunday’s early elections in four municipalities in the north of the country.
Voting ended with a turnout of only 3.47% of voters, according to the Central Election Commission of Kosovo (KQZ).

A total of 11 candidates ran for the post of mayor of Northern Mitrovica, Zubin-Potok, Lepasavich and Zvečan, and 60 candidates for the city councils of Zvečan and Lepasavić.
Only Sladjana Pantavich, who was an independent candidate for the post of mayor in Zvechan, participated from the Kosovo Serb community.
KQZ decided to reduce the number of polling stations from 44 to 19.
Thirteen of the centers were alternative and housed in containers in secure areas.
The first election results are expected to be announced at midnight.
According to preliminary results, the “Self-Determination” party of Prime Minister Albin Kurti declared victory in Kosova Mitrovica.
Unofficially, Self-Determination also won in Lepasavica, and the Democratic Party of Kosovo won in Zubin Potok. There are no data on Zvechan yet.

The US Embassy in Kosovo announced that elections in four northern municipalities were held in accordance with Kosovo’s constitutional and legal provisions.

Petar Petkovic, director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija, a coordinating body of the Serbian government, said that out of 45,095 registered voters in the four municipalities, 1,566 Albanians and 13 Serbs voted in Sunday’s election.
Serbian List, the largest Serbian party in Kosovo, announced on Friday that it will not participate in the elections.
