LAHORE: The second death anniversary of renowned Radio and TV artist Begum Khursheed Shahid is being observed today (Tuesday).
She was born in 1923 in Delhi, India. TV artist Khursheed Shahid began singing and acting at 9 from All India Radio, Delhi.
After the Partition in 1947, she and her family moved to Lahore in Pakistan.
Station Director Radio Pakistan Mehmood Nizami introduced Begum Khursheed Shahid on Radio Pakistan.
Begum Khursheed did a number of quality theatre plays written by Sadequain, Manto, and Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
Khursheed performed in various famous TV dramas, including Ras Malai, Kaanch Ka Pul, Wadi-e-Purkhar, Ustani Rahat Ki Zabani, Kiran Kahani, Fehmida Ki Kahani, and Dhund.
In 1995, Begum Khursheed was honoured for her contributions to singing, film and Tv industry with the Pride of Performance by the government of Pakistan. She died on this day at the age of 95.
