IDLIB: Fourteen truckloads of the United Nations (UN) humanitarian aid crossed into quake-hit northwestern Syria on Friday through Turkiye after deadly earthquakes hit the regions on Monday.
The UN trucks entered the Idlib region through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing at the Cilvegozu border gate in Turkiye’s southern Hatay province, Anadolu news agency reported.
Sent as part of the UN’s cross-border assistance efforts, the humanitarian aid will be delivered to people in need in the quake-affected region, Anadolu confirmed.
Aid operation in quake-hit regions
Earlier, six trucks had on Thursday arrived in Idlib, which felt the massive earthquakes centered in southern Turkiye.
A long-running aid operation into Syria has been in place since 2014, with the Cilvegozu gate currently serving as the only path for UN aid.
