KYIV, Ukraine: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed concerns about North Korea’s increasing involvement in Russia’s war against Ukraine.

He cited satellite and video evidence indicating that North Korea is not only supplying equipment but also preparing to send soldiers to assist Russia.

Zelensky called for a strong, honest response from global partners, stressing that such involvement could escalate the conflict and increase instability worldwide.

Zelensky warned that North Korea’s participation would negatively impact everyone, especially if North Korean soldiers are deployed to the front lines. He compared this potential new threat to Ukraine’s battle against Iranian-made Shahed drones, arguing that this development would prolong the war and benefit no one.

While South Korea’s intelligence suggests North Korea has sent 1,500 special forces to Russia’s Far East for training, U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin stated he could not yet confirm troop deployment. NATO and French officials also voiced concerns, indicating that the involvement of North Korean troops would mark a significant escalation in the war.

Zelensky’s appeal underscores the potential global implications of North Korea’s support for Russia in the ongoing conflict.
