MIRPUR: On the occasion of Yom-e-Estehsal-e-Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, called the United Nations (UN) to take immediate notice of the egregious breach of UN resolutions by the Modi regime in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Referring to August 5 as the darkest day in Kashmir’s history, the President condemned India’s audacious transgression of UN resolutions. On that fateful day, India unlawfully revoked Articles 370 and 35A, stripping occupied Jammu Kashmir of its special status.
Addressing the media in the state metropolis, Barrister Chaudhry underscored the dangerous ramifications of this action. He elucidated how India, following the abrogation, intensified its repressive measures in Kashmir while simultaneously launching an extensive multi-pronged assault, encompassing legal, political, and cultural fronts, aimed at altering the demographics and erasing the region’s distinct social, political, and cultural identity.
In the face of these tactics, Barrister Chaudhry said that India’s attempts to break the political struggle of their commitment to the cause have proven futile. Despite these tactics, their unwavering dedication to the noble cause of freedom from India’s illegal and coercive occupation remains unshaken.
The President further highlighted that both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the global community would mark August 5 as Yom-e-Estehsal, symbolizing their firm rejection of India’s control over the IIOJK.

Barrister Chaudhry added that protest rallies are scheduled to be held in major world capitals, spotlighting the sinister intentions of the Indian government and the ongoing human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir.
He voiced grave concerns regarding the recent move by India to convert Yasin Malik’s life sentence into a death sentence, viewing it as part of a larger conspiracy to fuel anti-Muslim sentiment prior to upcoming elections.
Expressing deep apprehension for Yaseen Malik’s safety, who is in Indian custody, the AJK President stressed the urgent need for international human rights organizations to play its part in securing the timely release and protection of not only Malik but also other detainees who have languished in jails for an extended period.
Barrister Chaudhry urged the international community to cast aside indifference and proactively engage in resolving the protracted dispute in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions that protected the right of self-determination for the people of Kashmir.
