SANAA, Yemen: US and British joint airstrikes in Yemen, targeting Houthi group defiantly declared that the military action “will not deter us.”

The retaliatory strikes, hitting 36 Houthi targets across 13 locations, were in response to the repeated attacks on international and commercial shipping in the Red Sea.

US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin stated that the strikes aimed to disrupt and degrade the capabilities of the Houthi militia, which has been responsible for destabilizing attacks.

While specific locations were not disclosed in the joint statement, Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree claimed that the capital Sanaa and other rebel-held areas were among the targets.

The British defence ministry reported that Royal Air Force Typhoon warplanes targeted ground control stations used for operating attack and reconnaissance drones. The strikes focused on deeply buried weapons storage facilities, missile systems, launchers, air defence systems, and radars associated with the Houthis.

Despite the military response, Saree affirmed the rebels’ commitment to supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza, emphasizing that the airstrikes “will not pass without response and punishment.” The situation remains tense, with the international community closely monitoring developments in the region.
