WASHINGTON: The US military has launched new strikes targeting Houthi group in Yemen, US officials and the group official media stated on Saturday.
Reuters citied two US officials as saying that additional action against the group had taken place a day following dozens of US and British attacks hit several targets in Yemen to secure shipping in the Red Sea.
The Houthi’s television channel also reported that several attacks have hit Sanaa city. The television reported that “The American-British enemy” is targeting Sana with a number of attacks. However, western media reported that the two US officials did not provide any more information about the new attacks.
Yemen: US Launches New Attacks Against Houthis
Increasing concerns regarding a widening regional conflict, US and British ships, submarines and warplanes on Thursday launched strikes against targets in Yemen. Even as Houthi leaders execrated reprisal, the US President also warned earlier on Friday that he could order more attacks if they do not halt their assaults on vessels in one of the world’s most economically dynamic waterways.
Meanwhile, Russia’s envoy to the UN Vasily Nebenzya has termed the joint US-UK attacks on Yemen blatant armed aggression. The envoy added that these countries all carried out a mass assault on Yemen Vasily Nebenzya maintained that aircraft, warships and submarines were used during strikes on Yemen.

American’s envoy to the UN has also warned that no states’ vessels were immune to the threat posed by the group to shipping in the Red Sea. The envoy said that whether the ship flies US flag, or the flag of another states… all of their ships are helpless in the red sea.
Britain’s Ambassador to the UN Barbara Woodward claimed that the UK took limited and proportionate action in self-defense.
UN chief Antonio Guterres also called on all parties “not to escalate” the situation in the Red Sea, his spokesperson stated following Washington and London launched assaults on Yemen’s Houthi group.
