TEL AVIV, Israel: Yemen launched a missile towards Israel overnight between Thursday and Friday, setting off air raid sirens across central Israel, including in Tel Aviv, according to the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF).

The missile was intercepted by the Arrow Aerial Defense System at a high altitude, preventing any casualties or damage. Explosions and sirens were heard, and shrapnel from the interception fell in the area.

The IDF is still reviewing the situation for further details. Meanwhile, as a precaution, Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv was temporarily closed for flights but has since resumed operations.
