Earlier, Pakistan’s permanent Ambassador to the United Nations has said Israel has been emboldened by the global order’s “double and triple standards,” which he contemplates to be the “root” of the issue unfolding in the Middle East, Arab News reported on Sunday. Reiterating his call for a truce in the Gaza Strip, Ambassador Munir Akram asked the world to rectify the inequity at the heart of the United Nations and in the application of global law.

“This is the nature of the international order in which we all live,” the envoy said on Arab News current-affairs program “Frankly Speaking,” saying: “There are dual standards and there are even triple standards, discrimination against some and discrimination for others. This is the main root of our issues in the world we live in, these dual standards.”
