SANA’A: Republic of Yemen on Wednesday dispatched a memorandum to the United Nations General Assembly and the member states of the United Nations, expressing grave concerns about the perilous situation and the acts of genocide perpetrated by the Zionist occupation forces against the Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip.
Yemeni News Agency (Saba) reported that the Yemen Foreign Affairs Ministry dispatched a memorandum that condemns the war crimes committed by the Zionist adversary against Gaza’s civilian population, including the denial of access to food and clean drinking water and the deliberate disruption of electricity supply to the people in the Strip.
The Republic of Yemen has called for urgent action in response to this dangerous and critical situation, which endangers the lives of millions of Palestinians residing in Gaza. It appeals to the United Nations General Assembly to convene an emergency session pursuant to its Resolution No. 377 of November 3, 1950, titled “United for Peace.”
The memorandum notes that the aforementioned United Nations resolution authorizes the General Assembly to convene an “emergency special session,” particularly in light of the Security Council’s apparent incapacity and deliberate stance of some of its permanent members in refusing to condemn the Zionist crimes.
United Nations Urged to Tackle Humanitarian Catastrophe in Gaza
It emphasizes that instead of taking action to halt the bloodshed, these parties have been offering military and material support to the Zionist adversary in its assault on Gaza. They have deployed battleships and aircraft carriers, posing a clear threat to the region’s security and stability, and demonstrating their willingness to harm the Palestinian people, whose land has been occupied and whose rights have been systematically violated.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs memorandum concludes by underlining the urgent need for the United Nations General Assembly to accord this issue paramount humanitarian and political importance and swiftly convene an emergency meeting to safeguard the Palestinian people. This measure is crucial to prevent the situation from escalating into a regional conflict that could engulf the Zionist entity and its allies, jeopardizing their interests and stability.
