Xi met Gulf leaders at the summit after signing various agreements with Saudi Arabia earlier. The leader of China spoke to regional leaders on his third day of his trip, only his third trip outside China since the start of the coronavirus pandemic.

State television showed leaders of the Cooperation Council, made up of six wealthy nations, including the Qatari leader and the Bahraini king, arriving at a conference in Riyadh on Friday.

“Gulf countries and China can achieve economic and industrial cooperation,” Xi told Gulf leaders meeting in Riyadh, declaring that the Cooperation Council is successfully overcoming global challenges.
