MAKKAH: The Grand Mosque in Makkah bustled with worshippers as they observed the first Friday prayer of Ramadan, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The General Authority for the Care of Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque, with the cooperation with all departments, tirelessly worked to facilitate the large crowds.

Preparations for Friday prayers started at dawn, with authorities meticulously readying courtyards, gates, and corridors to ensure easy movement of pilgrims and facilitate prayers. The worshipers started coming at the Mosque from the early morning hours, filling the interior and corridors of the mosque. The third Saudi expansion of the mosque also witnessed a large number of worshippers across its three floors.

The general authority initiated a comprehensive suite of services to boost the worshippers’ experience. Qurans with different translations were available for those wanted to recite the Holy Quran. Cleaning efforts were enhanced throughout the mosque. Loudspeakers, air conditioners and ventilation systems functioned flawlessly, ensuring a comfortable environment.

Various translation devices for the Friday sermon were distributed, allowing worshippers from different backgrounds to fully understand the message.

5,000 regular and electric carts were also available, for those with mobility limitations. Systematic plans were also made for disinfection and organization of cart pushers. Additional staff were strategically deployed to guide worshippers, ensuring a smooth flow of movement.

The comprehensive measures were taken for a smooth and orderly first Friday prayer of Ramadan at the Grand Mosque.
