ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Squash player Hamza Khan called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu on Tuesday during his visit to Air Headquarters, Islamabad.
Hamza Khan returned to Pakistan today following a remarkable victory in World Junior Squash Championship held in Melbourne, Australia.
The Chief of the Air Staff, who is also the Pakistan Squash Federation (PSF) President, appreciated the brilliant performance of the Squash sensation. He said that nation was proud of Hamza Khan, who brought laurels to Pakistan by winning the World Championship after thirty-six years.
He said that such players are an asset for the nation and a beacon for youths to emulate. PSF has introduced a systematic profiling process of emerging talent which would go a long way in the professional development of the squash players through assessment of their technical and physical skills, as well as their emotional and mental attributes.
PSF’s Role in Squash Revival Hailed
He reiterated his resolve that PSF, under the patronage of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) would continue to take revolutionary measures for the promotion of Squash in the country.
He lauded the hard work of the coaching staff for providing world-standard coaching and training services to young players. He also lauded the efforts of PSF in making concerted efforts to bring back the lost glory in Squash and hoped that Pakistan, with the hard work and sincere efforts of its players like Hamza, would once again rule the world of Squash.
Hamza Khan thanked the Chief of the Air Staff for his support in revitalizing the Squash and making his dreams a reality.
During the meeting, Hamza Khan also appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the PSF for the promotion of Squash, which included the development of provision of quality coaching, state-of-the-art sports infrastructure, and the establishment of squash academies.
He added that these initiatives patronized by PSF had played an important role in reclaiming the Squash’s prominence and achieving important milestones at the international level.
