World Bank Working on Rehabilitation of Pakistan’s Flood Victims: Martin Raiser

ISLAMABAD: World Bank (WB) Vice President for the South Asia Region Martin Raiser said on Monday that the World Bank was working with its development partners on flood rehabilitation in Pakistan.

Addressing the participants of the International Conference on Climate Resilient Pakistan, he said that the WB will help Pakistan in every way in its rehabilitation process after the devastating floods.

Martin Raiser said that it was a huge disaster as he had visited the flood-hit Sindh province to have a firsthand account. The World Bank was working together with its partners European Union, Asian Development Bank, and other institutions.

He appreciated the reconstruction and rehabilitation planning of the Government of Pakistan and the federal and provincial institutions are doing great work in rehabilitation. WB wanted to work with the Pakistani government in the rehabilitation of the flood-hit people in the country,

He added that the floods have hit hard the economy of Pakistan and it would require macroeconomic and structural reforms.
