BRISBANE: France claimed a vital three points at the Women’s World Cup as the team eventually defeated Brazil 2-1 in an exciting contest in Brisbane.

French captain Wendie Renard’s late winner earned France their first win at the mega tournament as they took top spot in Group F after their firsts draw against Jamaica.

Brazilian team will now need to defeat Jamaica on the final day following the Reggae Girlz claimed their first-ever victory, defeating Panama 1-0 in Perth.

In another important match, Sweden side have found a silver bullet in their threat from set pieces, as they beat Italy 5-0 on Saturday in Wellington to book their place in the mega tournament knockout stage.
