KABUL, Afghanistan: In Kabul, a pioneering initiative has taken root, establishing an exclusive market tailored to the needs of women.
This groundbreaking venture has paved the way for over a hundred female businesswomen to find opportunities for employment and empowerment.
The visionary behind this unique market, Rajmana Khaliqi, emphasized the primary objective: to extend employment prospects and essential facilities to women who have faced a two-year hiatus from the workforce. “The main purpose of creating this market is to provide convenience for all the women who live inside Afghanistan in the current situation,” stated Khaliqi, the market’s founder.
Olya Ahmadyar, a shopkeeper at this novel establishment and the primary provider for her family, expressed her gratitude for the opportunity. With over 18 years of experience in business, she confidently vouched for the potential of this marketplace. “We are pleased that this location has been established because there was previously nowhere for our items to be sold. We are getting orders and have sales,” she added.
The businesswomen operating within this market shared their appreciation for the secure space provided to them. They appealed to the Islamic Emirate for continued support, especially in championing the cause of women in business. Shukria Ahmadyar, a businesswoman, highlighted the significance of women serving women within this market, underscoring its positive impact on the community.
Feroza, another businesswoman, echoed the sentiment, urging the Islamic Emirate to facilitate the sale of their products and fortify their role in the burgeoning marketplace.
Simultaneously, women frequenting this market to make purchases urged the Islamic Emirate to create more opportunities for female employment within the country. Mina, the head of a restaurant within the market, emphasized the importance of women being able to stand on their own feet, particularly those without male family members to provide for them.
This innovative market, boasting a restaurant, a lawn, and over 30 women-managed shops, covers an expansive 20-acre area. Every day, women flock to this hub to make purchases, stimulating economic growth and fostering a sense of community and empowerment.
