ISLAMABAD: A festival of about 100 women entrepreneurs began here at the National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Saturday where the entrepreneurs brought their handmade products, comprising arts, crafts, organic skincare, interior décor, and traditional foods.
The two-day event is a Joint effort by Atom Camp and Wecamp, supported by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP), and the Ministry of Commerce and will assist women entrepreneurs to nurture their businesses and expand their market outreach.
Women’s role in entrepreneurs of Festival
Commenting on the importance of the event CEO and Co-founder of Wecamp, Laiba Ahmad said that this time marginalized segment of women has been given special focus where his organization has partnered with The SEED Program to include 20 women entrepreneurs from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the festival.
She added that they are inviting all to be part of the festival including citizens of Islamabad and Rawalpindi support and encourage home-based women entrepreneurs.
She said that the participation of women in the labor market is 1/4th of the men’s strength adding that women face mobility and cultural restraint to advance their careers and entrepreneurial pursuits. However, the initiatives taken by Wecamp are part of reducing such gender inequalities in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, a stall about giving information was also displayed by TDAP to help women entrepreneurs for improving their businesses.
The festival also promises to be a great outing for families with a dedicated children’s play area, painting activity, scavenger hunt, and a trivia session.
