ISLAMABAD: As voting commenced nationwide, there was a notable surge in enthusiasm among elderly and female voters at polling stations, marking inspiring scenes as citizens, including those with disabilities and seniors, actively participated in the electoral process.
Expressing her anticipation, a 70-year-old woman shared with media her eagerness to participate in the February 8 general election and contribute to shaping the future government.
Polling station agents noted a significant turnout among the elderly, highlighting their active engagement since the start of the day. Despite facing age-related and health challenges, individuals like a 50-year-old man remained steadfast in their commitment to vote in person.

Echoing this sentiment, another elderly woman in Sindh emphasized the importance of personally visiting the polling station to cast her vote, disregarding any hindrance due to age.
In Lahore, 80-year-old Sakina Bibi exemplified this dedication by making her way to cast her vote. Similarly, a man recounted how his father prioritized voting over breakfast, insisting on being taken to the polling station promptly.
Reports from various polling stations depicted long queues, predominantly comprising senior citizens and women patiently awaiting their turn to exercise their democratic right.
One female voter in Islamabad expressed pride in fulfilling her civic duty, emphasizing the significance of voting as a fundamental right for every individual. –APP
