LAHORE: A woman tortured and burnt by her husband and in-laws passed away at a hospital in Lahore, after succumbing to her wounds.
Punjab Police registered a case against the victim’s husband, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and brother-in-law upon the statement of the deceased woman before her death and arrested all four accused.
Naureen was set on fire by her in-laws in Nespak Society in Lahore’s Kahna area. She died in the hospital after struggling for life for sixteen days.
Before her death, the victim alleged in a police statement that Raheel, her husband, with his family’s help, tortured her and set her on fire after dousing her in petrol.
The body was severely burnt, self-treated at home for days
The woman was severely burnt in the incident, and her in-laws treated her at home for six days to hide the crime. As the victim’s condition worsened, she was shifted to Jinnah Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and died in the hospital on Tuesday.
Police took the dead body and shifted it to the mortuary for a post-mortem. Acting on the victim’s final statement, a case was registered Raheel, the victim’s brother-in-law Adeel, his wife Anam, and mother-in-law Sajida.
