ISLAMABAD: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan has granted approval to Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, a low-cost airline based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to start flight operations in Pakistan.

The move is expected to facilitate travellers between Pakistan and the UAE. The Pakistani government’s decision to allow Wizz Air Abu Dhabi airline comes weeks after Turkish airline SunExpress was also given permission to start operations in the country.

SunExpress, a joint venture between Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines, has applied to start operations in Pakistan and is currently completing formalities.

Direct flights between Karachi and Addis Ababa

Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of direct flight operations between Addis Ababa and Karachi, starting on May 1.

The Ethiopian flag carrier previously operated the Karachi-Addis Ababa route between 1966 and 1971 and again between 1993 and 2004. Sources say that the airline will operate four weekly flights on this route.

The introduction of these new airlines and flights is expected to boost Pakistan’s aviation industry and promote economic activity in the country.

These developments are also expected to provide greater travel options for passengers travelling to and from Pakistan.
