ISLAMABAD: Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that three men have been given the responsibility to eliminate him, but despite that, he will stand with former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan till his death.

“Three men have been given the responsibility to eliminate me, but the death is my beloved, handcuffs are my jewel and jail is my in-laws,” he said in his message on the microblogging website Twitter.

“As long as Imran Khan is fighting this battle, I stand with him. The incidents of May 9 should be investigated impartially, and those responsible should be punished,” he said.

Sheikh Rashid said that despite being out of the country, he condemned the May 9 incidents. “I consider the Pakistan army great and the protector of Pakistan. I am not a coward and I will maintain camaraderie with Imran Khan up to the grave’s wall.”

The former interior minister said that he has the right to defend himself. He said that he has written to those who run the real government in Pakistan that there is a limit to excesses and these excesses were being taken to the extreme level by the PDM people. “Who are sowing this crop, will ultimately reap it.”

“For the last 20 days, my sisters, brothers, nephews, even my mother’s house has been continuously raided by the police, and my mother’s house has been vandalised,” he said.

“I am not appearing on any TV channel for the last couple of days and I am just tweeting, and if they are offended by my tweets, I will continue to tweet until I am arrested,” he said.

He said that those who are leaving the PTI may be forced or they may be weak and they cannot bear the pressure. “But I want to say that death is my beloved, handcuffs are my ornaments, and jail is my in-laws. As long as Imran Khan is fighting this battle, I stand with him.”

Sheikh Rasheed said that institutions are requested to conduct an impartial investigation into the May 9 incidents. Whoever is involved should be severely punished, but why the police were sleeping, when these incidents happened, which the most important question mark. “No patriotic Pakistani can stand up against his or her own army but neither can stand with the thieves of the PDM.”
