SRINAGAR: Kashmiris residing in the Indian illegally occupied region of Jammu and Kashmir, as well as those living abroad, are making unprecedented sacrifices in their relentless pursuit of the inherent right to self-determination.

As disclosed in a report issued Tuesday by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, the Kashmiri people have steadfastly resisted India’s unlawful occupation of their homeland for more than seventy-five years.

The report highlights that, in an effort to maintain its illicit and military control over Jammu and Kashmir, India has been responsible for the martyrdom of over five hundred thousand Kashmiris since the year 1947. The document further asserts that Indian forces, including troops, paramilitary personnel, and police officers, have, in their attempts to quell the ongoing demand for the right to self-determination in the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), martyred more than ninety-six thousand Kashmiris, encompassing men, women, and teenagers. This toll includes 7,325 individuals who have suffered in custody and fake encounters, with an additional eight thousand subjected to custodial disappearance from 1989 to the present.

The report underscores the resilience of the Kashmiri people, particularly the youth, who are dedicating their fervent efforts to liberate Kashmir from Indian subjugation. It contends that the Hindutva BJP regime’s use of coercive measures and military strength will not succeed in silencing the voice of the Kashmiris.

Despite enduring losses in lives, honor, and property, the report asserts that the people of IIOJK are unwavering in their struggle for freedom. The Kashmiris’ steadfastness has demonstrated that they will not yield to the brutal tactics employed by Indian forces.

Emphasizing the right of the Kashmiri people to strive for freedom from Indian bondage under international law, the report declares that the valiant spirit of the Kashmiris surpasses the brutalities inflicted by Indian troops. It predicts that New Delhi will ultimately have to acknowledge and yield to the courage and determination of the Kashmiri people.

The report concludes by urging the international community to recognize the gross human rights violations perpetrated by Indian forces in IIOJK. It emphasizes the need for global intervention to address the longstanding Kashmir dispute and protect the Kashmiris from the terrorism and political injustice imposed by the Indian state since 1947.
