LAHORE: PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz has said that there is “no truth” in assumptions that party leader Nawaz Sharif is staying away from country’s politics as he did not choose to be the party’s candidate for the premiership.
She made the statement via her social media account. In a post on social media, Maryam Nawaz said, “During the next five years, not only would he actively take part in politics but also lead his governments in the Centre and Punjab.”

She said that Nawaz Sharif had “made it clear in his election campaign that he would not be a part of any coalition government”.
Earlier, major political parties in the South Asian country joined forces for coalition government after the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had declared results of 2024 elections. According to local media reports, political parties including PML-N, PML-Q, PPP, MQM-P, BNP and IPP announced forming the government together in the country.
Earlier, PML-N announced former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as party candidate for the position of Prime Minister and Maryam Nawaz as PML-N candidate for Chief Minister Punjab.
