PARIS, France: Two wildfires in southern France caused significant disruptions, leading to the evacuation of thousands and extensive damage.

In Canet-en-Roussillon, near Perpignan, approximately 3,000 holidaymakers were relocated from a campsite to a municipal building due to a blaze fueled by strong winds.
The fire damaged several mobile homes but has since been controlled. Further along the Mediterranean coast in Frontignan, near Montpellier, another fire prompted evacuations but was also brought under control.

The blazes have collectively burned at least 300 hectares (740 acres) of land. Firefighters, including 600 mobilized on Sunday, are addressing lingering hot spots to prevent flare-ups.

Emergency measures included emptying private swimming pools to assist in firefighting efforts.
