ISLAMABAD: South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has written his name into cricketing folklore on Monday, smashing the second-fastest triple century in Test history during a blistering knock against Zimbabwe in Bulawayo.
The 27-year-old all-rounder reached the historic 300-run mark in just 297 deliveries, placing himself behind only India’s Virender Sehwag, who blazed his triple ton in 278 balls against South Africa in 2008.
Mulder didn’t just stop there—he stormed past Hashim Amla’s 311 to claim the highest individual score by a South African in Test cricket.
His masterclass makes him only the second Protea to notch a triple century in the format, a feat that places him among an elite group of cricketing titans.
South African skipper Wiaan Mulder stood tall and unbeaten on a breathtaking 367 off just 334 balls, peppering the field with 49 elegant fours and four towering sixes.
Batting at a blistering strike rate of 109.88, Mulder’s masterclass powered South Africa to a commanding 626 for 5 before they declared their first innings, leaving the crowd in awe and the record books rewritten.
