LOS ANGELES: Sydney Sweeney’s close friends are said to be increasingly concerned about her growing relationship with music executive Scooter Braun, with insiders claiming the actress has become deeply invested in the new romance.
Radar Online reported, citing unnamed sources, that Sweeney is “completely wrapped up” in Braun and has become “lovestruck.”
A source told the outlet that Braun has “made her a lot of promises” about career opportunities. “She’s extremely ambitious, so of course that got her attention,” the source said.
The relationship reportedly began as a “business connection” but later “morphed into something else entirely,” according to the insider, cited by Radar Online.
Sweeney ended her seven-year relationship and engagement to Jonathan Davino earlier this year.
Friends now worry she has moved on too quickly. “She made such a big deal about wanting to stay single for at least a year… And here she is, already completely wrapped up in another guy,” the source was quoted as saying.
The insider added that Sweeney “doesn’t need Scooter’s help,” but has started seeking his input on her business decisions. “It looks to her friends like this guy’s got a hold on her,” the source said.
Sweeney speaks of ‘red flags’
Speculation over the relationship intensified after Sweeney appeared in a Fandango interview released on 19 November, alongside co-star Amanda Seyfried for their upcoming film The Housemaid.
Asked about her dating preferences, Sweeney said she has learned she likes “a circus” and “a bunch of red flags.”
The comments came during a rapid-fire segment and were delivered with a smile, but were widely discussed online amid rumours of her romance with Braun.
The actor plays Millie Calloway in the psychological thriller directed by Paul Feig. The Housemaid releases in US cinemas on 19 December.
Daily Mail reports public kiss in New York
The Daily Mail reported that Sweeney and Braun were photographed sharing a kiss in New York City’s Central Park on 4 November.
The publication said the two first met at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez’s wedding in Italy in June and stayed in touch afterwards.
According to the report, the pair have grown closer in recent months, with friends on both sides observing a genuine connection.
Sweeney has been enjoying a rapid rise in Hollywood following roles in Euphoria, The White Lotus, Anyone But You, and Immaculate.
Braun, a board member and adviser to HYBE, previously managed stars including Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.
