LAHORE: Quetta Gladiators, a prominent franchise in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), is deliberating a leadership change after Sarfaraz Ahmed’s eight-year tenure as captain. Sources indicate that Rilee Rossouw and Saud Shakeel are under consideration as potential successors to Sarfaraz Ahmed’s captaincy.
Sarfaraz Ahmed has steered Quetta Gladiators admirably for nearly a decade, but with the team’s performance dynamics evolving, the management is seeking fresh skipper to invigorate the squad.
Shane Watson, the team’s head coach, is actively engaged in the decision-making process regarding the new captain. Although Rilee Rossouw and Saud Shakeel are leading candidates, the ultimate decision rests with the coaching staff and management.
Interestingly, the management has proposed the option of retaining Sarfaraz Ahmed as captain while appointing Saud Shakeel as vice-captain. This strategic maneuver demonstrates the team’s readiness to explore diverse leadership configurations to enhance performance and adapt to the forthcoming challenges in the PSL season.
