WHO Warns Against Negative Impacts of Climate Change

ANKARA: The World Health Organization Chief Dr Tedros Ghebreyesus on Monday cautioned against the negative impacts of climate change on the world.

In a statement on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, he said that currently, the world is facing devastating fires, massive floods, extreme heatwaves, and prolonged dry seasons due to climate change.

He warned that climate change is not just a threat, but a fact that is impacting lives and ecosystems.

He urged all the states to unite to reduce emissions, promote resilience, and forge a sustainable path forward. “Our planet and future generations depend on it,” he said.

Tedros Ghebreyesus further stated the planet Earth is sounding the alarm with fires, heatwaves, floods, and droughts.

WHO chief said climate change is a reality which cannot be ignored.

Recent months have seen massive heat waves, cyclones, flash floods, prolonged droughts and wildfires, with July recorded as the world’s hottest month.
