COPENHAGEN: The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday urged against any attacks on healthcare facilities, a day after Israeli military struck a Gaza hospital that martyred at least 500 innocent Palestinians.
Hans Kluge, the head of the WHO’s European branch, said that WHO urges, at least, to stop any strikes on healthcare facilities. It is a top priority of the World Health Organization.
He said that the organization’s number two priority is to protect civilians and children and to get humanitarian access from Rafah inside Gaza, because all WHO’s supplies are based there already, but the border is still closed, AFP news agency reported.
Kluge said the WHO was very worried about the situation.
At least five hundred Palestinian people were martyred on Tuesday in an attack on the Al Ahli Hospital in central Gaza, the health ministry in the Hamas-run Palestinian territory said.
Kluge said that the only solution is to stop the fighting. He urged for a negotiated peace that ensures the right to health for everyone.
