COPENHAGEN: The head of the World Health Organization’s Europe branch Hans Kluge said on Monday that up to 1,000 children and women needing health care will shortly be evacuated from Gaza to Europe.
Hans Kluge said that the process of evacuations will be facilitated by the World Health Organization (WHO), the UN’ health agency and the European nations involved.
Earlier, on Thursday, investigators associated with the UN said that Israel was intentionally attacking hospitals and health facilities in Gaza, and killing and torturing medical staff there, alleging the country of worst crimes against humanity.
Rik Peeperkorn, WHO representative in the occupied Palestinian territories, stated in May that around 10,000 people required evacuating from Gaza for immediate medical care. The WHO Europe has also facilitated around 600 medical evacuations from Gaza to seven European nations since the war started there in Oct, 2023.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has launched a brutal bombardment campaign in the Gaza Strip killing around 42,603 Palestinians, mostly children and women, Gaza Health Ministry said.
