WHO to Continue Support to Control Epidemics in Flood-hit Areas

QUETTA: Dr Palitha Gunarathna Mahipala, Country Head of the World Health Organization in Pakistan, on Saturday said that the organization would continue providing every possible support for controlling epidemic diseases in the flood-affected areas and ensure health and nutritional facilities to mothers and children.

The WHO Country Head said this during his meeting with the Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo at CM House in Quetta.

He acknowledged the Balochistan government’s services for ensuring health facilities and assistance to the flood-affected people in the flood-hit areas of Balochistan.

Both the dignitaries agreed to increase further cooperation in providing health services in the province.

The WHO representative also assured cooperation on behalf of the WHO to control viral diseases, including measles, polio, and other childhood diseases under the EPI program.

He said that CT Scan Ambulances and Motorcycles for Health Workers would be provided to the Health Department

along with the establishment of more vaccination centers across the province.

Bizenjo thanked the WHO for providing valuable support. He also praised him for the services of the WHO Country Head for Balochistan.
