GENEVA: The World Health Organization said on Wednesday that the XBB.1.5 sub-variant of Covid-19 may be spurring more cases.

The World Health Body said that based on its characteristics and early growth rate estimates, the new variant may contribute to increases in the number of cases.
However, WHO said that it has only “low confidence” in the assessment as the current data was coming from the US only, which has given more than 80 percent of sequences.
