ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is set to expand its premier T20 tournament, with Faisalabad and Gilgit likely to join the Pakistan Super League (PSL) as new franchises in the 11th edition, expanding the league to eight teams.

PCB sources said that Faisalabad and Gilgit emerged as the top choices from six shortlisted cities, which also included Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, and Rawalpindi, promising fresh energy and regional pride to the marquee tournament.

Meanwhile, the renewal of the Multan Sultans franchise remains under discussion, with the 2021 champions yet to receive their updated 10-year franchise offer.

Other teams, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators, have already received renewal proposals following an independent valuation of the PSL franchises and commercial assets. Franchises are expected to respond within the given deadlines.

To maintain full transparency, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has organized joint and individual sessions between franchises and the independent valuer, EY MENA, allowing teams to understand the valuation process and directly address any queries.

The PCB has also officially launched the sale process for the two new PSL teams. Chairman Mohsin Naqvi confirmed the development last week, sharing detailed guidelines for bidders on X (formerly Twitter).

Interested parties must submit their technical proposals by December 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with the documents to be opened later that day. Only technically qualified bidders will advance in the process.

Naqvi celebrated the expansion on social media, stating, “The Pakistan Super League is about to get Bigger and Better! The process for the sale of Two New Teams has been launched. Time for two new dreams [PSL] to come true.”
