ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, is rolling out a redesign of its Mac version to provide an improved user experience on larger screens. Additionally, the company is introducing a long-awaited feature, enabling users to initiate group video calls directly from their Mac computers.
This new video call feature is set to be particularly well-received in WhatsApp-centric regions, where the messaging app serves as a primary means of connecting with family and friends. Even iPhone users frequently rely on WhatsApp for communication.
The updated WhatsApp app for Mac now includes support for group calls, allowing users to engage in video calls with up to eight participants and audio calls with as many as 32 people.

Moreover, Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, is making it possible for users to join ongoing group calls from their Mac, similar to the functionality available on the mobile app. Addressing a previous limitation of the Mac app, the latest version offers increased chat history storage, ensuring that older conversations are accessible.
Additionally, users can now view their call history and receive incoming call notifications, even when the WhatsApp app is closed on their Mac.
WhatsApp’s redesign for the Mac enhances productivity on larger screens, making it simpler to share files by merely dragging and dropping them into a chat. As always, the app prioritizes the privacy and security of users’ personal messages and calls, maintaining end-to-end encryption.
Users can download the latest version of WhatsApp for Mac directly from WhatsApp.com, and it will soon be available on the App Store for added convenience.
