LONDON: Meta-owned messaging giant WhatsApp is likely to fulfill a persistent user demand as leaked screenshots hint at the development of an official iPad version of the popular messaging app.
Originally tailored for smartphones, WhatsApp later expanded its services to computers, but iPad users have long been clamoring for a dedicated app for their devices. Although iPad users can presently access WhatsApp through the Safari browser, the absence of a dedicated app has left many frustrated.
Social media platforms have been buzzing with users voicing their grievances, with one Twitter user questioning, “Why isn’t there WhatsApp for iPad? If you have a desktop app, then what’s really stopping you?”

The leaked screenshots, formatted to fit the wider iPad screen, surfaced on WABetaInfo, a reputable source known for tracking WhatsApp updates. These images provide a glimpse into the ongoing testing phase of the iPad-compatible app.
According to WABetaInfo, a beta version of the iPad-compatible app is currently accessible to beta testers exclusively through the TestFlight app. However, it’s important to note that the app remains in the beta phase, limiting its accessibility to the general public.
TestFlight, an online service owned by Apple, serves as a platform for installing and testing new apps. Presently, it is confined to developers within the iOS Developer Program.
While there has been no official confirmation from WhatsApp regarding the iPad app’s release, iPad users have enthusiastically expressed their anticipation for this potential development.
