Key points
- Users can set delivery time
- Scheduled messages editable before sending
- Free feature for all users
ISLAMABAD: WhatsApp is working on a built-in “Scheduled Messages” feature that will allow users to choose a specific date and time for messages to be delivered automatically within chats.
The feature was discovered in the latest iOS beta version 26.7.10.72, distributed through Apple’s TestFlight programme, according to WABetaInfo.
Once launched, users will be able to draft a message, set a delivery time, and rely on the app to send it automatically at the scheduled moment — without needing to reopen the chat. Messages awaiting dispatch will remain in a queue and be accessible via a dedicated section within the chat information screen.
From there, users can review, edit or delete pending messages before they are sent. If a scheduled message is deleted, the recipient will not be alerted, as the message is removed before delivery.

The tool is expected to work in both private and group conversations, making it useful for sending birthday greetings, reminders, announcements and professional updates in advance.
Currently, iPhone users can schedule messages indirectly through Apple’s Shortcuts app, but the new feature is intended to simplify the process by integrating it directly into WhatsApp.
Although scheduling options are already available to businesses via paid Business Broadcast services, the upcoming feature is set to be offered free to all users.
The functionality is still in development and is anticipated to roll out to beta testers before becoming widely available.
