CALIFORNIA: Meta-owned messaging app WhatsApp is rolling out a redesigned typing indicator for both individual and group chats, currently available to some beta testers.

Previously, when a user typed in a chat, the typing indicator appeared at the top of the screen in the app bar beneath the group name, showing who was typing, as reported by WABetaInfo.

With the new update, the typing indicator will now be displayed directly within the conversation screen as a chat bubble, making it quicker and easier for users to see who is typing without diverting their attention from the ongoing conversation.

This update also affects the voice recording indicator, which will now appear in a similar manner within the chat interface, ensuring a consistent experience for both typing and recording.

Additionally, in group chats where multiple users are typing simultaneously, their profile icons will be visible within the chat, providing a clear indication of who is active. This update reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to enhancing the conversation experience by introducing features that offer real-time feedback during chats.
