KARACHI: The Government College University Hyderabad (GCUH) Alumni Association (Karachi Chapter) announced on Thursday its decision to establish a welfare fund aimed at providing assistance to deserving and qualified students pursuing higher education, both within the country and abroad. The support will be extended through scholarships and loans.

The decision was made during a joint meeting involving the GCUH Alumni Association (Karachi Chapter), Phulelain, and the Sindh Boys Scout Association office. The meeting was presided over by Syed Muttaqi Hassan and senior journalist Mukhtar Aqil.

During the meeting, a committee chaired by Amin Yousuf was formed, comprising members Faheem Qureshi, Anwer Kazmi, and Qamar Khan. This committee was tasked with preparing a report regarding the construction of a welfare institution on the plot allocated to the Phulelain housing scheme for its members. The report is to be submitted at the next meeting.

Additionally, Jahangir Ahmed, Shahid Aleem, and Naseer Arain were assigned the responsibility of promptly opening an account for the alumni association in Karachi.

Furthermore, plans were set in motion to organize a Fun Gala for the members and their families in both Karachi and Hyderabad. The meeting attendees also emphasized the importance of maintaining effective communication with individuals hailing from Hyderabad, Sindh, regardless of their current residence within Pakistan or abroad.
