ISLAMABAD: A nationwide week-long anti-polio drive started on Monday, aimed at administering vaccine drops to more than 45.8 million children under the age of five.
Polio workers will conduct door-to-door visits to ensure every eligible child receives the vaccine, alongside providing Vitamin A supplements to enhance their immunity. Dr. Shahzad Baig, the Coordinator of the National Emergency Operations Center, emphasized the program’s unwavering dedication to reaching every child with essential vaccination and healthcare services.
“Our main priority is the well-being of every child, and we are fully committed in our pursuit to eradicate this crippling disease,” he said.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the anti-polio campaign will span from the 3rd to the 9th of March across 33 districts. Additionally, children traveling with their families through road transport entry points will also receive the polio vaccine to prevent potential transmission.
The health department urges citizens to cooperate with the teams to ensure the complete eradication of this disease from the country. —APP
