Weather Turns Pleasant After Twin Cities Receive Moderate Rain

ISLAMABAD: Weather turned pleasant in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad after the region received moderate rain Monday night.

Temperature dropped significantly also resulting in dust pollution. It was a pleasant feeling for the residents of the twin cities when they woke up early Tuesday.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecast mainly dry weather in other parts of the country while a westerly wave is likely to enter western parts of the country today.

The westerly wave is likely to grip upper and central parts on 01st March and may persist over northern areas till 02nd March. However, rain-wind/thunderstorm is likely in north Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Potohar region.

Minimum recorded temperatures in the country

The Met Office recorded the minimum temperature of -07 °C Celsius in Leh, -02 °C in Kalam, Gupis, Astore, and -01 °C in Skardu.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air is prevailing over most parts of the country.

 Weather and air quality

As per the air quality index (AQI), the air quality in Lahore is 152 US AQI, 140 in Rawalpindi, 141 in Faisalabad, 88 in Muridke,82 in Mangla, and 162 in Bahawalpur. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi has been recorded as 157 US AQI, while air quality in Islamabad stands at 114. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 121 in Peshawar and 82 in Abbottabad.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the maximum of 15 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 17°C in Lahore, 18°C in Karachi, 16°C in Peshawar, 10°C in Quetta, and 9.5°C in Gilgit.
