Weather: Sale of Warm Clothes Ramps Up as Winter Intensifies

ISLAMABAD: The sale of warm clothes at Lunda Bazaars has ramped up as the winter season intensifies in Pakistan.

Stalls of used clothes in flea markets at multiple locations in Islamabad offer sweaters, blankets, coats, quilts, shirts, trousers, woollies, children’s wear, and jackets. These markets, commonly known as Lunda bazaars, offer items of reasonable quality at affordable prices and are often visited by citizens of the middle and lower classes.

Cold and dry weather to persist in most of country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met) has forecasted cold and dry weather in most parts of the country during the next 24 hours.

Foggy conditions

During morning and night hours, foggy weather conditions will likely develop over plain areas of Punjab and upper Sindh. As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of the country.

Air quality in different cities in Pakistan

The air quality in Lahore is 164 US AQI; 197 in Bahawalpur, 157 in Muridke, 141 in Rawalpindi, and 123 in Sialkot. In Sindh, the air quality in Karachi is 176 US AQI, while Islamabad’s air quality stands at 155. In Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, air quality is 173 in Peshawar and 70 in Abbottabad. 

 Recorded temperatures

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (Met), a maximum of 6 degrees Celsius (°C) temperature was recorded in Islamabad, 10°C in Lahore, 19°C in Karachi, 9°C in Peshawar, -2°C in Quetta, and -3°C in Gilgit.

Minimum recorded temperatures

Today’s lowest minimum temperatures (in °C) were: Leh -11, Kalam -05, Kalat, Skardu -04, Gupis & Rawalakot -03.
