ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the implementation of the National Action Plan is the need of the hour. He was addressing an apex committee meeting about the National Action Plan (NAP) in Islamabad on Friday.
Addressing the apex committee meeting, Shehbaz Sharif addressed the Karachi attack and paid tribute to the personnel of Sindh police, Army and Rangers for the bravery with which they tackled the situation and prayed for the martyrs.
The Prime Minister said that today’s meeting was about the National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
Prime Minister says implementation of NAP is need of the hour
Explaining on the formation of National Action Plan, the PM said the previous government of PML-N had invited all stakeholders for a “comprehensive discussion” which led to the NAP’s formation.
Shehbaz Sharif said he had similarly invited all stakeholders following the Peshawar Police Lines attack.
The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to a “very friendly nation” for giving assistance to Pakistan even before the finalisation of talks with the IMF.
He said that talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would soon be successful but economic difficulty would still persist in the shape of severe conditions by the IMF.
According to local media, the meeting of the Apex Committee reviewed the current law and order situation in the country.
According to State-run TV, Shehbaz Sharif said that they will make no compromise over the national interest of the country. He added that political stability is necessary for the economic stability of the country. The high-level meeting was attended by the top civil and military leadership.
