WB Approves $350 Million Loan for Costa Rica

SAN JOSE: The World Bank has approved a $350 million loan for Costa Rica to fund infrastructure, and climate resilience projects, local media reported on Saturday.

The aim of the program is to fund investments in infrastructure for flood control and slope stabilization, as well as the reconstruction of roads and bridges damaged by weather-related tragedies, Reuters reported.

Costa Rica “remains exposed to extreme weather events and hazards, which rise the impact of these risks,” the country’s minister for finance affairs, Nogui Acosta.

Acosta said that the project is aligned with the nation’s strategy for mitigating and adapting to challenge of climate change.  Acosta further said that it will support their priority of investing in resilient infrastructure and services to secure people living in the most vulnerable regions.
