BEIJING: China’s capital city Beijing continues to be blanketed by dropping snow on Thursday. According to Chinese official media, in response to the cold weather, Beijing’s railway stations suspended around 153 trains as of 10 a.m. Thursday.
Educational institutions including primary schools and secondary schools in the city started cancelling classes. The resumption of classes will be announced later, Beijing Municipal Education Commission said.

According to the Beijing Meteorological Observatory the average snow in the city from 5 a.m. to midnight Wednesday was around 2.7 mm, with an average of 3.1 mm in the urban parts of the city.
After this round of snow, which is likely to end on Friday, Beijing will be hit by a cold, with minimum temperatures likely to drop below minus ten degrees at night.
Beijing is still on an orange alert for heavy snow, a blue alert for cold waves and a yellow alert for icy roads.
