ISLAMABAD: The White House on Tuesday, issued a warning to Pyongyang over its possible use of nuclear weapons, stating both Washington and Seoul had planned a coordinated and effective response.
An official of White House’s National Security Council stated that US President Joe Biden and South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol had assigned their teams to prepare blueprints for a response that is both effective and coordinated between the two sides. In this regard, a number of scenarios including nuclear use by North Korea were being considered.
White House respond after North Korea’s nuclear saber-rattling
Due to contradictions in media reports, the NSC issued the statement about the response by allies to nuclear saber-rattling from Pyongyang.
Tensions have escalated after North Korea’s leader Kim Jong Un announced the need for an exponential expansion of his country’s nuclear arsenal and new intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) to counter US and South Korean hostility.
During 2022, North Korea conducted weapons tests that defied sanctions nearly every month. This included firing its most advanced ICBM ever.
