AUCKLAND: Cricket Australia has announced that David Warner will be absent from Australia’s final Twenty20 international against New Zealand in Auckland.
The 37-year-old, who is set to retire from international cricket after the T20 World Cup in June, sat out of Friday’s match, where Australia secured a 72-run victory over the Black Caps.
Although Warner will undergo a short recovery period, Cricket Australia assures that this setback is not likely to impact his participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
In the previous match against New Zealand in Wellington, Warner scored 32 runs off 20 balls but was met with boos from the home fans, marking his final appearance in the bilateral international series.
